I have tried Squadron green and white and disliked both for the simple fact they seem to skin over and dry out too quickly. For a real quick job, they were ok, but for a job that takes more than a few minutes, not so much.
I have switched to Tamiya grey putty and used it on a 1/32 scale Bf109 I am working on. So far, so good. It sanded fine after curing for a day, and sanded fine after a week.
Some people swear by one brand or another, and everyone gets different results, I know, and I will see how this works out. At some point, Lindberg took it upon themselves to pull an Aurora, packing the smaller kit in the bigger box. I don't know if the recently released B-58 is that kit (it appears as though they are using the box art from the smaller kit), and I doubt that the J. Llyod's Lindberg release was the larger one as well. But writing as someone who had both, I can tell you that the proper 1/64 Hustler was quite the kit, at over 18" in length.RRLittlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15682746790237246894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4377551440301701870.post-46558181970176450832014-12-07T22:11:05.758+10:302014-12-07T22:11:05.758+10:30I don't necessarily think that all kit decals ...I don't necessarily think that all kit decals suck,,,,,,but, I don't use them very often. At least, I don't use them for the scheme that is on the box, I might use some of the better quality kit decals for parts of the markings for a completely different model.

I do this because, even though we can't agree on production numbers, a kit is produced in some multiple of the thousands, and an aftermarket decal is usually something between 300 and 1000 sheets per run.

By choosing one scheme off of an aftermarket sheet instead of the kit decals, the model has more of a chance of being unique than if I built the "same as 10 thousand other modelers" by going with OOB decals.
Rex, the accidental Caghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15096511415872112627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4377551440301701870.post-74363310589984642962014-10-06T07:52:57.863+10:302014-10-06T07:52:57.863+10:30

The amount of etched metal that ends up in drawers because it is beyond the abilities of most modellers is rediculous, a large proportion (in my opinion) of the AM trade in this sort of stuff is predicated on mindgames, convincing the modeller that the kit isn't good enough, when, often, and for many modellers at anything less than masters level, it's probably fine.

Robyn -- I've not done anything with trains yet, but one day might tackle the Trumpeter locomotives as an adjunct to the Leopold railway gun, but that's a loooong way down the track. All the same, I have seen some amazing dioramas which feature marshalling yards, engine sheds and cranes, and such things sure busy-up a scene of unloading armour, or of a battle in an industrial area. I would be happy to discuss your diorama plans, and also refer you to X-Treme Modelling, a mag from Spain, that presents the most amazing work in this field. I have no home display, I'm hard-pressed to store what I build, but one day that should change!

Cheers, MikeMike Adamsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11550754238853530000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4377551440301701870.post-44128195061391499092012-08-12T12:04:18.390+09:302012-08-12T12:04:18.390+09:30I dont see any pics of trains...do you not do them...I dont see any pics of trains...do you not do them?
